What is Conviction of Sin?
Audio sermon by Michael J. Penfold
One of the reasons why the Holy Spirit came down from heaven on the day of Pentecost (Acts 2) was to convict people of their sin (John 16:8). Without conviction there can be no repentance; and without repentance there can be no salvation. But what is conviction of sin? The natural smiting of conscience? A head knowledge of what the Bible says about sin? An admission of mistakes? A fear of going to hell? What conviction is, and is not, is examined – with a view to help believers to be discerning in dealing with souls. Sermon preached 17.7.2011
